Is there a tutorial for black and white images in photoshop?

i tried searching for a tutorial on google but i couldn't find the one i was looking for...


i want to make smooth, soft light, high contrast ,black and white photo( i am using photoshop cs3 extended) anyone know how or know of any tutorials?

I'm assuming you want to convert a color photo to a black and white photo with artistic tonal (contrast) quality.





I haven't tried CS3, so I'm hoping all the same features as the prior versions are as easily available.





Here is a tutorial on properly converting the image to black and white.

Once you've done that, use the Curves tool to tune the contrast to your liking.
